Felt and Felting

Felting with a Felting Machine

Felting machines are wonderful machines. There is so much you can do with a felting machine. It brings hours of fun and enjoyment to my life. They look like a sewing machine, but without any threads anywhere, so there is no bobbin or thread tension to worry about. You move the fabric in any direction you like as you are working. The only thing to watch out for is that the needles are really brittle. So you need to be careful when you are felting to not move the fabric too fast, or allow one particular area to get over-felted. If one of the needles on the multineedle snaps, you can take a pair of pliers and snap it off right at the top. This way you can still use your multineedle.

In this video I will show you how to felt pictures directly onto fabric. I have used a number of different materials to make my pictures. This is part 1 of a two part tutorial on how to felt into fabrics.
